Hello! My name is Jody. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have provided individual and group therapy in a variety of settings, from outpatient services to residential treatment, from group homes for foster children to alternative placements for adolescents placed through the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Most of my work experience has focused on treating trauma / PTSD, and accompanied symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, etc. I am certified in TF-CBT and EMDR, as well as Motivational Interviewing and enjoy using Expressive Art Therapies and other creative means to enhance treatment models.
When impacted by trauma, we often find ourselves living a life that doesn’t feel like our own. We have thoughts, feelings and behaviors we don’t understand or feel like are not supportive of our health and well-being.
Therapy can be a helpful way to start to understand these thoughts, feelings and behaviors and where they originated from. By exploring and processing through past experiences we get a better sense of ourselves and can start to make decisions that support our goals, our well-being and our important relationships.
By engaging in the therapeutic process, you have the opportunity to take your life back and create the life you want or feel like you were meant to have.
As you or your child’s therapist, I see my role as the supporter, the cheerleader, the navigator, the gentle-nudger, the compassionate listener and as the one who will remind you of laughter and joy.
